_fresh air SSS064

_fresh air breathes new life into an old wind organ with Ableton Live. Go from sea shanty to spaceship with this instrument.

Each of the the 37 keys of a 1960s Canadian made, "Orcana" branded wind organ was recorded in stereo. It's a simple instrument to sample. You hit a key and open up a wind pipe and sound comes out. It's not the most nuanced of instruments, but it has its primitive charms.

Taking things further, we used Ableton's Sampler to build something that lets you play the original instrument, as well as transform it into something loosely based on what it once was. There's a lush quality to wind instruments that make great pads or other atmospheric elements. This isn't the most CPU friendly creation out there, but that's what happens when you stack a load of new Ableton 11 effects in the chains.

Breathe easy, this instrument includes an Ableton demo session to get you up and running with all the new possibilities out there in your stratosphere.
